On the Diamond Ridge sponsorship front Bechtel says things have slowed down. “They have settled down for a while. We (Bechtel and Jimmy Johnson) have two or three meetings this week but we’re not in a great hurry.” Remember we reported here last week that an inked sponsor deal was imminent for this bunch – but Bechtel says the target may have been shifted. “We’re looking toward Charlotte to make a sponsor announcement for the Winston Cup team and we also will announce the sponsor for five Winston Cup races for Elliott Sadler at Charlotte.” Hopefully these guys will be busy come Charlotte.(MRN Net – Marty)(4-16-98)
