Big crowd at Martinsville

It appeared a lot of people either called in sick to their regular jobs or simply took an extra day off to go to the race on Monday. Martinsville Speedway officials said all 72,000 reserved seats were sold prior to Sunday’s rain postponement, leaving just 8,000 unreserved seats to be sold on race morning. There were few empty seats visible Monday, except in the unreserved area along the back straightaway. The turnout was estimated at about 70,000.(Speedworld)(4-20-98) (04-20-1998)
