Michael Waltrip and Jeremy Mayfield put on quite a show at Oklahoma City. In a 12 lap “heat” Race on the 1/2 Mile Dirt Oval, Michael Waltrip piloted his borrowed car to a win. The Prostock/Late Model Sportsman cars belonged to local racers. Jeremy Mayfield finished second but made an exciting effort to pass Waltrip several times in the last 4 or 5 laps. This was only the second time Mayfield has raced on dirt. The Race of Champions Feature was canceled (as well as regular races) when a thunderstorm shut down activities early in the evening. Wallace finished third followed by Marlin. Officials hope to get the race rescheduled later in the year.
