The formation of Smith/Bickle Motorsports is here and ready to roll in next weekend’s CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The partnership brings together Florida businessman Eddie Smith and NASCAR driver Rich Bickle in a team effort that will run “select” Busch and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this year. The team has decided to run Ford Tauruses and have drawn the number 91 for their fledgling Busch Series efforts. The car will be wrenched by Richie Wauters who came from the Diamond Ridge Motorsports operation. “Richie was looking for a crew chief opportunity and Rich had a good relationship with him. We felt like he deserved a chance,” said Smith. Eddie Smith will serve as president of Bickle/Smith Motorsports and the team is looking for sponsorship for their limited 1998 NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series effort.(GoRacing)(5-15-98)
