Race weekend in Dover is off to a tragic start. One fan is dead and four others are seriously injured. The accident happened in a campground near Dover Downs. Five people were badly burned after trying to erect a 30-foot flagpole. The pole hit electrical wires and then a propane tank, sparking an explosion. The victims were taken to Kent General Hospital where one man died. He is identified as an out-of-state race fan in his 30’s. Four others are being treated for serious burns at Chester Crozier Burn Center in Pennsylvania and Saint Agnes Hospital Burn Center.
