Sad News: Semon ‘Bunkie’ Knudson, Commissioner of Nascar, died of heart failure today in Michigan. While General Manager of Pontiac in the late 50’s and early 60’s, he used Nascar racing to build a new image for Pontiac and became close friends with the France family. He went on to be General Manager of Chevrolet, a Sr. VP of GM, President of Ford and Chairman of White Motors. My condolences to his family.(7-6-98) – who was Bunkie Knudson?
