Lake Speed did an interview on TNN’s Inside NASCAR and said he has not retired. He was originally diagnosed as having bruised ribs after his Sears Point accident. A second checkup found that he had 4 broken ribs and a broken sternum then resigned from the #9 Cartoon Network/Melling Ford. He said he’d like to come back when healthy but only to a team that wants him and that has sponsorship. He had gotten a few calls to drive, but feels he is not healthy enough yet.(9-6-98)
