From the Stock Car Racing Magazine Website: May be hard to believe, but during his ’89 championship season Rusty Wallace was leading in the standings at this point (after 26 races) with 3,758 points. That same number of points this year would have him exactly where he stands right now…in the fourth spot in the standings. He had 6 wins at this time that year, but he had the exact same number of top-5s & top-10s. He had 4 DNFs then compared to only 2 this year. (Tom Roberts PR)(9-22-98)
