Ten drivers tested Tuesday at Talladega Superspeedway, but not all will be back for next month’s Winston 500 in the same equipment. Only Wally Dallenbach, Rick Mast and Buckshot Jones tested with the same team they’ll race with on Sunday, Oct. 11. Dallenbach tested the No. 50 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, while Mast was behind the wheel of the Remington Arms Ford he normally drives on the Winston Cup circuit. Jones tested the Stavola Brothers Chevrolet that he will make his Talladega Winston Cup debut in next month. Drivers Ted Musgrave, Hut Stricklin, Lake Speed, Krik Shelmerdine and Mike Dillon all were testing Winston Cup cars Tuesday, but not the cars they’ll be racing at Talladega on Oct. 11. Only Musgrave is a certain entry in the Winston 500, as he is scheduled to drive the First Plus Financial Ford for car owners Bill Elliott and Dan Marino. Shelmerdine is expected to run the Winn Dixie 300 ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series event Saturday, Oct. 10.(SpeedNet)(9-23-98)
