NASCAR drivers Jeremy Mayfield and Ward Burton have been picked to participate in a series of highway safety public service announcements by the North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program. The invitation was issued by Joe Parker, director of the program, and Governor Jim Hunt. Mayfield and Burton will participate in the program, which is designed to reach young, mostly male motorists. Those are the type who refuse buckle up and who are most likely to drive after drinking, according to Jill Warren Lucas, Public Information Officer, Governors Highway Safety Program. The two drivers will tape public service announcements to be used for as many as five broadcast PSAs and many more radio spots( The Williams Company )
