Dave Charpentier, one of the NASCAR tour’s better known engineers, is leaving the Rick Hendrick-Wally Dallenbach camp and is expected to land a job quickly, either in the Dale Earnhardt camp, working with Steve Park and Dale Earnhardt Jr., or with Richard Childress’ team, working with Earnhardt( PitNow ) — more info: Dave Charpentier, a shock specialist with the #25 Chevys driven by Wally Dallenbach, left the garage area at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Thursday morning following an argument with crew chief Tony Furr. It was unclear whether Charpentier has quit. According to sources, Charpentier and Furr argued Wednesday night following first-round qualifying in which Dallenbach qualified 41st out of 52 drivers. The argument carried over to Thursday morning after which Charpentier stormed out of the garage( That’s Racin’ ) — UPDATE 1: Crew Chief Tony Furr said that Hendrick Motorsports is close to signing a sponsor to the #25 car. And it could happen this week. The departure of shock specialist Dave Charpentier Thursday morning is expected to be just the first of possibly five members leaving Papa Joes team. Charpentier could end up at DEI( SpeedVision )
