Jay Smith has been named as the crew chief for the #40 Coors Light SABCO Chevy and driver Sterling Marlin( NASCAR Today Radio ) Smith was most recently the crew chief of the #34 Goulds Pumps BGN Chevy. Also worked for Bobby Hillin’s BGN team and Irvan-Simo in the past few years — CORRECTION: hmmm….I hear this incorrect, folks from SABCO tell me that Smith is not the new #40 crew chief but has been hired by SABCO to work on the #42 shocks. An announcement should be coming in the next day or two concerning the #40 crew chief — UPDATE 1: Hearing that Scott Eggleston will switch over from the #42 to be the #40 crew chief — UPDATE 2: it’s official – Scott Eggleston has been named crew chief for Team SABCO’s #40 Coors Light Chevrolet and driver Sterling Marlin. He moves the 20 feet or so from where he was crew chief for Team SABCO’s #42 BellSouth Chevrolet and driver Joe Nemechek.
