David Starr, who usually drives the #73 truck will run the black #23 Red Line Oil Chevrolet for regular driver Phil Bonifield during the Grainger Industrial Supply 225K on June 18 in Portland. Why? so that Starr could continue to gain experience and keep his position in the Rookie points chase. The #73 team wanted to take a week off to catch up. Did you know: David Starr’s Dad was a crewchief for Indy Car Driver Tony Bettenhausen. Like Starr, Bettenhausen is a Texan, and is now owner of the Epson car driven by Shigeaki Hattori on the CART Tour. A resident of Ft. Worth, Starr currently stands 23rd in the overall points standings and third in the USG SHEETROCK Brand Rookie-of-the-Year standings. He also races a limited Winston West schedule in the #35 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. For more information visit his web site at www.davidstarr.com(PR)(6-17-1999)
