Steve Grissom will drive the Slim Jim #44 Chevrolet in the BGN race at Pikes Peak. Justin Labonte had been scheduled to drive but was unable to test and father Terry didn’t think it would be fair to run him at a track in which he had no experience. Terry Labonte plans to drive the Slim Jim #44 Chevrolet at St. Louis next week with Justin back behind the wheel at Indianapolis Raceway Park August 6th. The Slim Jim car, which has had the same paint scheme continuously since 1992 when it was driven by Bobby Labonte, will be a little different at Colorado and Phoenix. The Penrose associate logos have been replaced by Pemmican Beef Jerky. Penrose and Pemmican, along with Slim Jim, are products of GoodMark Foods, Inc. of Raleigh, NC. Pemmican Beef Jerky is produced at GoodMark’s San Jose, CA plant and has strong sales in the Rocky Mountains and on the West coast(PR)(7-21-1999)
