from a PR: Many crew chiefs are calling on Catawba Valley Community College Bobby Isaac Motorsports Technology Program in Hickory NC for fabricators and assemblers. Phillipe Lopez, Kmart Racing; Ty Norris, DEI; Tony Lambert, Roush Racing; Mike Fox, Fox Fabrications, and Tim Suggs, Body Dynamics have pulled fabricators from the Bobby Isaac Motorsports Technology Program. The crew chiefs call looking for new quality help. Our program concentrates on work environment, confidence with equipment, and fab skills used in the industry. We do not teach bad habits, but train people to think like racers, work like team players, and have the imagination to create performance. The program has been very successful with 80% plus graduates working in the industry. We have gotten guys making decals, engineering, building chassis’, metal shading, crewing, all the way to Winston Cup. The total program is a “hands-on” program from Fab I to Advanced Metal Shaping. These courses may be completed in 25 weeks. Many teams are starting to gear-up for December with the 2000 Monte Carlo and Taurus.
