Ricky Rudd got his first Top 10 of the 1999 season in the #10 Tide Ford — UPDATE: Rudd ran a Pro Motor in the car at the Brickyard and will supposedly switch back to Pro Motors for the rest of the 1999 season. Rudd used Pro Motor in 1998 and had switched to Penske Motors for 1999. A quote from Rudd in a Pro-Motor/Cox PR: “We had a Pro-Motor Engineering engine in the car today and it was really great. We’ve been lacking all year on that deal and that really helped us. The Pro-Motor guys did a great job for us. From where we’ve been, we made big gains today. This was the first time I used Pro-Motor engine all year and it was the best motor I’ve had all year. I don’t want to look at any negatives on the Penske engines. But the motors we were getting (from Penske) wouldn’t run on our chassis dyno. We had to do something. We’ll run a Pro-Motor engine the rest of the year.”
