Heard it was reported on the LTN Hour , a Wisconsin NASCAR radio show, that Stacy Compton is under consideration to take the #9 Melling Ford. Present driver, Jerry Nadeau, is leaving to go to the #25 Hendrick team — UPDATE: TNN’s Raceday reports that Compton turned down the offer — UPDATE2: I hear that no offers have been made and the Steve Grissom and Compton are the two drivers the team likes at the moment. The team is getting the sponsorship side taken care of first then will hire a 2000 driver — UPDATE 3: #86 CTS driver Stacy Compton will drive the #9 Cartoon Network Ford Taurus for the rest of the Cup season. According to sources close to the situation, Compton has the ride for this week’s Pop-Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at North Carolina Speedway as well as the races at Phoenix, Homestead and Atlanta. And, should sponsorship be found to replace the Cartoon Network, Compton has an excellent chance of remaining in the car for the 2000 season. Compton replaces Rich Bickle, who had driven the car for the past several races( TNN Motorsports Site ). Compton has also been rumored to be part of a the Dodge teams when they go to Cup in 2001
