Ricky Rudd, one of the last of the owner-drivers, denied a report on Charlotte television Thursday which said Rudd had sold his team to CART owner Chip Ganassi and would drive next year for Robert Yates. Rudds future became cloudy when sponsor Tide announced it would leave his team after this season to back a new group being formed by CART owner Cal Wells. Rudd has said he has other opportunities and will make up his mind whether to sell, partner or fold by mid-September. Rudd also insists he doesnt want to sell outright but would rather acquire a partner, in the manner of Penske-Kranefuss or Carter-Haas.
