sources at the track tell me that CART driver Scott Pruett is at Bristol as observer. So is Anthony Lazzaro, who will drive for Cal Wells in the BGN, and the two have been walking around the infield together. Wonder if Pruett is under consideration for the Cal Wells Cup ride — UPDATE: Scott Pruett didn’t have anything better to do this weekend so he’s spending it in Bristol, TN., at the Cup race. Pruett, who competes in CART, said nothing more should be made from his visit. He drives for Cal Wells, who plans an entry in NASCAR racing next year. Wells hasn’t yet hired a driver but Pruett said he’s not a candidate, primarily because he is in the first season of a three-year contract on the CART circuit. However, Pruett said he might drive Winston Cup cars sometime in the future. Wells said he hopes to announce his stock-car driver by mid-September( SpeedNet )(hint..hint: Dallenbach)
