Wally Dallenbach met again with owner Cal Wells last week. Wells and sponsor Procter & Gamble(Tide) are meeting Monday to decide whether to hire Dallenbach or Al Unser Jr. to drive for the team next season. Meanwhile, Dallenbach has been approached by representatives of Robert Yates and by the Read Morton team left without a driver by Ernie Irvans sudden retirement(Times-Dispatch) and More and more, it looks as though Cal Wells plans to place Al Unser Jr. in the Tide-sponsored Ford he will debut on the Winston Cup Series next year. Jerry Nadeau, currently in the #36 M&M’s ride, will drive at Hendrick Motorsports(#25) next year, replacing Wally Dallenbach Jr. Dallenbach is also looking for a ride, and he could immediately fill the Irvan vacancy with Nadeau finishing up the year in the #25. Such a move is being considered, according to sources at both teams( SpeedNet/Monte Dutton ) — UPDATE: Jerry Nadeau tested in Tony Furr’s #25 Bud Chevy in St. Louis(Gateway) last week, and Furr was impressed. Enough so, apparently, that a Nadeau-for-Wally Dallenbach swap may be under consideration, with Nadeau taking the ride with Furr in the next couple of weeks and Dallenbach moving to Ryan Pemberton’s #36 M&M’s Pontiac. Both teams are Hendrick Motorsports operations( PitNow ) — UPDATE 2: sources tell me that the Budweiser contract would probably not allow for a driver swap, so look for Dallenbach to say in the #25 through the end of the season — UPDATE 3: Might a Dallenbach-for-Jerry Nadeau swap be in the cards?
