Wood Bros/Donlavey Honored UPDATE:

In honor of the Wood Brothers longevity with Ford Racing, Edsel B. Ford II will present the Wood Brothers with the Spirit of Ford Award in honor of their accomplishments in Racing. The reception and ceremony is scheduled for 6:00pm/et on Thursday, September 9, 1999 in the Virginia World Building at the Richmond International Raceway. Ford representatives will be in attendance, along with NASCAR drivers, members of the media, Winston Cup and Richmond track officials. The Wood Brothers Racing Team is one of the most successful and historical teams in NASCAR. The Wood Brothers have made their mark on NASCAR by setting many records that still stand today. Records such as 80 superspeedway wins, 53 500-mile wins, 87 superspeedway poles and 26 superspeedway races won from the pole. The Wood Brothers have accumulated a total of 96 wins and 112 pole positions. When NASCAR named the 50 greatest drivers from 1948-1998, seventeen of those 50 drivers had piloted a Wood Brothers racecar.
