Derrike Cope has a new ride and has been signed to drive the #15 Ford Taurus being prepared by the new Bud Moore/Fenley Motorsports team in its Winston Cup debut at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Oct. 10th. Cope tested with the team at Lowes this week and ran at 180mph. According to owner Randy Fenley “there is no commitment” beyond the UAW-GM Quality 500 event for either Cope – or the team. Fenley, 39, brother Robert, 43, and their father, Ron, are Fenley Motorsports – a California-based company that built its fame and fortune in the dynamic Southern California construction market. They own a Winston West team and acquired the majority ownership of the venerable Bud Moore Engineering team in August. Fenley says the new team – to be officially called Fenley-Moore Motorsports – is focusing on fielding a competitive team for the 2000 season, beginning at Daytona in February. Moore is working with the team as a consultant(Country Cool) Note: the team attempted to make the Brickyard 400 in the #62 Ford with Big Daddy’s as the sponsor
