Ted Christopher will meet with officials from Team 34 Friday in Richmond, VA. Christopher, of Plainville, will meet with co-owner Frank Cicci to discuss the possibility of replacing Mike McLaughlin in one of the team’s three cars. The Cicci and Scott Welliver organization has a history of hiring Northern drivers. McLaughlin, Jim my Spencer, Randy LaJoie and Todd Bodine are all current or former Cicci/Welliver drivers who got their starts in southern New England. Team 34 manager and former Southington resident Clyde McLeod said the team is still exploring their options and negotiating with sponsors for next season. Currently, the team fields cars for McLaughlin, Bodine and Tim Fedewa. McLeod said the team may scale back to a two-car operation next season(Hartford Courant)(9-10-1999)
