He could return in a Ford Taurus co-owned by one of his Indy car partners, Mike Held. Ryan Pemberton is rumored to be the new crewchief( TNN Motorsports ) — UPDATE 2: Pemberton is supposed to announce his 2000 plans sometime Saturday at Homestead — UPDATE 3: It won’t be Pemberton as he will go to the #77 Jasper Engines team — UPDATE 4: Ryan Pemberton said Gordon is close to a sponsor deal, and that it is not Burger King, as widely rumored. Gordon was supposed to be at Homestead on Saturday but did not arrive, Pemberton said he would be in the Charlotte area Monday. One option would be for Gordon to buy into an existing Winston Cup team and become driver, with an option for total ownership in 2001. Another option would be to buy Ricky Rudd’s equipment (to be auctioned in two weeks), which would give Gordon a head start. Also, Jack Roush indicated his #26 team may be available for a cooperative venture with someone. Rudd said he expected no bid from Gordon.
