Thomas “T.L.” Stiles of Charlotte, N.C., 45, a fabricator with Team Sabco for the past eight years, was killed Thursday afternoon in an automobile accident on Interstate 77 north of Charlotte. Also injured in the accident was Team Sabco fabricator Len Sherrill of Kannapolis, N.C., who is listed in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Sherrill, 37, has worked with Team Sabco for 11 years. Team Sabco owner Felix Sabates closed his race shop Thursday and will keep it closed Friday. Sabates is making plans to fly his race teams back to Charlotte for the funeral, expected to be held Saturday( That’s Racin’ ) — UPDATE: The funeral for Team Sabco fabricator Thomas “T.L.” Stiles, who was killed in an automobile accident north of Charlotte Thursday, is 1 p.m. Monday at Blair Road Methodist Church in Mint Hill, NC. Len Sherrill, also a Team Sabco fabricator and injured in the accident, was upgraded to good condition Friday at Carolinas Medical Center and released from the intensive car unit. He remains in the hospital. A college fund for Stiles’ children has been established.
