Richie Evans Jr., 24, son of the late-great 9 time NASCAR Modified Champion, Richie Evans, Sr. has signed with Gary Hargett to drive in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series in 2000. Evan’s Sr. was killed in a practice accident in Martinsville in 1985 and is consdiered by many to be one of the best stock car drivers ever. Since then Richie has continued to grow up around the sport from his home in Rome, NY where he raced Karts competitively, until his family moved to Charlotte, NC in the early 1990. For the past few years Richie as been working as a mechanic and a jackman on the #33 Busch Series Team, BACE Motorsports. Gary Hargett is a veteran crew chief and car owner in the short track stock car ranks in the southeast. He has worked with drivers in their early careers, such as Harry Gant, Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Most recently Gary has worked with Chad Mullis with their campaign in the NASCAR late model stock division, at Concord, NC Speedway. At this time the team is seeking sponsorship for their USAR Hooters Pro Cup Program, and with enough sponsorship they may run a few NASCAR late model stock car races in the Carolinas and surrounding areas permitting from the Hooters Schedule
