Pennzoil, sponsor of both the #1 Chevy driven by Steve Park in CUP and title sponsor of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Sprint car series, terminated all of its motorsports employees on Monday, just 40 days before the start of the NASCAR racing season. The announcement comes the day before the annual Lowe’s Motor Speedway Media Tour in Charlotte, NC, which highlights the coming NASCAR season. Exactly what Pennzoil’s purge means is open to debate, but TNN reports that car and series sponsorships will not be affected this season. These include the WoO, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Steve Kinser (sponsored by Quaker State, which is part of the Pennzoil corporate umbrella) and Pennzoil Panther Racing of the IRL(TNN Motorsports Site)(1-11-2000)
