Dave Marcis didn’t bag a qualifying spot in Saturday night’s Pontiac Excitement 400 but he got the next best thing: a near-record 21-pound, 2-ounce turkey, among the largest ever bagged in the state(of Virgina). Marcis, who went turkey hunting at 4:30 a.m. Friday near Richmond, hasn’t qualified in eight of 11 races this season. He decided to pack up and go home rather than try to requalify Saturday(AJC)(5-7-2000)
