Andretti Hurt UPDATE:

John Andretti, driver of the #43 STP/Cheerios Pontiac, was transported to University Hospital this morning for a chest X-ray. Greg Steadman, crew chief for Andretti said, “We’re still trying to find out John’s condition. Todd Bodine ran about 10 laps for us in practice to help us out. We’re trying to decide what we’re going to do, but we won’t know until we get the particulars on John’s condition. We’re going to be prepared. We’ve talked to a couple of guys about standing by tomorrow night in case we need them. Either way, we’ll be ready to go.” See the stories at TachZone and NASCAR Online which reports: John Andretti complained of sharp pain in his ribs and had to be helped from his car during a practice session at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Sat morning) and transported to a nearby hospital for tests UPDATE: Andretti was back at the track before the Busch race started and, while he is pretty sore, he is planning on starting the #43 STP/Cheerios Pontiac. Andretti cracked a rib in the wreck in the Winston. When he got in the car and started practice, apparently the g-forces broke it the rest of the way. Tim Fedewa will practice the car this afternoon and Andretti will start the race tomorrow with Fedewa relieving(5-27-2000)
