Michael Holigan, whose Web site MichaelHoligan.com sponsors Nadeau’s #25 Chevrolets, is considering moving from Winston Cup sponsor to team owner and the move has prompted questions about Nadeau’s future. If Holigan buys into a team or starts his own, he would like to keep Nadeau as driver, sources told ThatsRacin.com Thursday. Nadeau’s contract, however, is with Hendrick Motorsports, where he said he is very comfortable(That’s Racin’) UPDATE: but Holigan has never talked to Nadeau about becoming his driver IF he decides to buy, own or start a Cup team(6-30-2000) UPDATE 2: Barely eight months after entering the sport with his companies’ sponsorship of the #25 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy driven by Jerry Nadeau, Michael Holigan is pursuing team ownership. Holigan says a lot of relationships would have to fall into place in the next few weeks for that to happen in 2001, but his goal is to have a car entered in the Daytona 500 in February. Sponsorship for a new team would have to come from outside sources because of the ownership structure of Holigan’s companies. Olympus Real Estate Corp., an arm of Dallas-based Hicks, Muse & Furst Inc. owns 50% of the companies. Holigan’s existing sponsorship with Hendrick Motorsports has two years remaining, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if that relationship ends early. Holigan says he has told Rick Hendrick that building the Michael Holigan brand name isn’t as important as it was when the deal was signed. If Holigan does establish his own team, he isn’t likely to take Nadeau.
