UPDATE: P.J. Jones will be the driver of the #01 Chevrolet of Chip Gnassi Racing in next weekend’s Winston Cup race at Watkins Glen, N.Y. Jones is a regular in the #19 Chevy on the Busch Series and ranks 33rd in the circuit’s points standings. He is the son of 1963 Indianapolis 500 winner Parnelli Jones(AJC)(8-6-2000)
UPDATE 2: BGN rookie contender P.J. Jones will pilot the #01 BellSouth/Team SABCO Chevy in the Aug. 13 Global Crossing at the Glen NASCAR Winston Cup event at Watkins Glen. In the June Busch Series event at the 2.45-mile circuit, Jones posted a career-best ninth-place finish after starting from the fourth position. The 31-year-old also earned a ninth-place NASCAR Winston Cup finish at Watkins Glen in one of six events he entered in 1993 for car owner Harry Melling.
