Big Rigs UPDATE:

Talladega Superspeedway is talking with Jimmy Spencer and other Winston Cup drivers about driving in the Monster truck race on the eve of the Oct. 14 Winston 500(AJC)(7-1-2000) UPDATE: You might think going around Talladega Superspeedway at 200 mph, four cars wide would satisfy thrill seekers like Jimmy Spencer and Elliott Sadler. In a normal “White Knuckle Weekend” it would, but this October Mr. Excitement and the man with the thick Virginia drawl will square off in a Monster Truck race on the eve of the NASCAR Winston Cup Winston 500. At 8:00pm on Oct. 14 under temporary lights, the two NASCAR Winston Cup drivers will wrap their hands around the steering wheel of a Monster Truck, a vehicle weighing in at more than 10,000 pounds and propelled by engines that generate 2,500 horsepower. These trucks can cover Talladegas 600-foot course in under 10 seconds(Talladega Superspeedway PR)(8-7-2000)
