been told by many readers that it was reported on a Charlotte, NC radio station Wednesday morning, that Terry Labonte, driver of the #5 Kelloggs Chevy, was considering retirement and not returning to driving a race car. Sources tell me that this is not true and Labonte plans to drive at Michigan and beyond. Also in Bobby Labonte’s NOL Chat transcript, Bobby says: “I talked to him(brother Terry) last night. He said he felt really good yesterday. And as you can expect, he doesn’t want to be out of the race car. So he’s anxious to get back in it.”(8-10-2000) UPDATE: first thing I have seen written about it….A rumor surfaced in Charlotte this week that Labonte was considering retirement, but Labonte said there was no basis to that report. He plans to drive in a test at Bristol early next week(Monday and Tuesday) and after that will decide if he’s ready to be back in the car next week at Michigan(That’s Racin’)(8-11-2000)
