Jeremy Mayfield is expected to return to for next weekend’s Cup race at Michigan. Mayfield was injured in a practice crash at Indy and suffered a concussion. He sat out the Brickyard 400 and will site out the Watkins Glen race. Kyle Petty, who substituted for Mayfield last weekend at Indianapolis, told Penske-Kranefuss Racing this week he would not accept payment for his services as driver last weekend. Petty’s payment, estimated by team officials as “several thousand” dollars, was donated to the Kyle Petty Charity Ride. Tom Hubert, who works for Bill Davis Racing and has a lot of road racing experience, is substituting for Mayfield this week(That’s Racin’)(8-11-2000)
