Huh?

Dale Earnhardt Jr. denied speculation that he will let his father drive his car at Lowe’s Motor Speedway near Charlotte in the next race as a last-ditch effort to win the Winston Cup championship. At Charlotte last May, Dale Jr. had a dominant Chevrolet — winning The Winston all-star exhibition and dominating the Coca-Cola 600 before mechanical problems late in the race. “That’s just rumors. . . . That would be a big slap in the face to the guys who work on his car, so he surely wouldn’t want to do that,” Dale Jr. said. “He has got a lot of confidence in his (team). There is no reason for him to throw everything away on some foolish move like that.”(by switching cars, it is meant that Dale Sr would use a DEI car painted up in GM Goodwrench colors and have the #3 on it)(Atlanta Journal Constitution)(10-2-2000)
