With Ron Hornaday set to replace Rick Mast at A.J. Foyt Racing, Rich Bickle has joined the list of candidates Ultra Motorsports has presented to sponsor NationsRent. At one point believed to be the top candidate to replace Michael Waltrip at Ultra Motorsports, Hornaday is set to join Foyt’s operation in 2001. Hornaday is keeping mum, but admits something should be announced shortly. Ultra Motorsports presented Robby Gordon, Mike Wallace and Bickle to NationsRent. Crew chief Bobby Kennedy said the team expects to hear the sponsor’s preference the week of Oct. 23.(Winston Cup Scene)(10-26-2000)
