multiple Cup team owner(#’s 6,16,17,97,99) Jack Roush said he would prefer to run five Cup teams in 2001, but that four cars was a definite possibility. The Nos. 6, 17 and 99 have sponsorship in place for 2001 but the 16 and 97 do not. Roush said that he was committed to run the #97 with Kurt Busch even though there is no sponsor agreement signed yet, but that the team is a go program regardless. Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member Henry Aaron is dealing with Roush trying to establish a motorsports program that would ideally feature a minority driver. Roush addressed that issue with the media, saying he would ultimately like to step away from the #16 operation — to partner with Aaron and to help him do that thing or provide leadership in it for two or three years and then back out of the picture by the point in time where they’ve got a minority driver organized for it. Roush expressed his support of Lepage and said, as much as he is seeking sponsors for both his teams in the CTS as well as the #97 Cup car, he was doing the same with Lepage’s operation( in part from NASCAR Online and That’s Racin’)(11-6-2000)
