Jerry Nadeaus race winning sponsor, Michael Holigan, has scrapped plans to take an active role in the sport next year, but after his teams only victory, promised he would be back. Holigan said he was close to buying an ARCA team, presently owned by Eddie Sharp, and converting it to compete in BGN next year. But, Holigan said, “My father and I talked about it and kind of had a heart-to-heart, and he asked me to sit on the fence for a year and not go racing.” Holigan wants to own a team and not merely sponsor it. He said he expected to be back in NASCAR by 2001(Gaston Gazette) – Delphi Automotive/UAW will be Nadeau’s sponsor in 2001(11-21-2000) UPDATE: Michael Holigan said Nov. 20 that his only involvement in NASCAR for 2001 will be working on “a few marketing deals with one of the teams and one of the owners.” He won’t field teams in the BGN and CTS in 2001 as he’d previously planned upon getting out of his sponsorship agreement with Hendrick Motorsports. Holigan, however, says he’ll field a Winston Cup team in 2002(Winston Cup Scene)(11-23-2000)
