Two-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Northeast Region champion Richard Mitchell has announced that he will join ARCA for the 2001 season. Mitchell, who won three track championships and 27 late model feature events at the Jennerstown and Motordrome (PA) speedways over the past two years, will drive for the newly formed Mac Hill Motorsports team. A West Virginia University mechanical engineering graduate, Mitchell will compete in eight to ten races during his rookie ARCA venture. Included among the targeted tracks are: Lowes, Michigan, Pocono, Talladega, Atlanta and Nashville. The new Mac Hill team will campaign a Pontiac constructed by Hopkins Enterprises. Chris Mitchell has been named to the position of crew chief.
