Hamilton, Jr. will remain behind the wheel of the #33 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet of Andy Petree Racing for the Coca-Cola 600, Sunday night, May 27, at the Lowe.s Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C. The 24-year-old is coming off finishes of 12th and fourth in this past weekend’s Winston Open and No Bull Sprint races at the same speedway. Hamilton is driving in place of regular driver Joe Nemechek, who was injured in a crash during BGN testing Tuesday, May 15, at Dover Downs. A tire appeared to have cut and sent his car into the wall between turns three and four, breaking Nemechek’s right arm near his elbow and his right scapula. He will be in a cast for up to two weeks, doctors have told him. Hamilton, Jr. will make his first practice runs Thursday at the Charlotte track, and qualifying Thursday night for the Coca-Cola 600.(Williams Company)(5-21-2001)
