#88 Backup:

#88 Backup: Todd Parrott would have preferred his driver use the team’s original car built for the Coca-Cola 600, but he’s not too concerned with the backup Dale Jarrett will drive in Sunday’s race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Jarrett hit the wall with his #88 Ford during Thursday night’s qualifying session and the team was forced to use his backup, which his team busily worked on Friday. What is the history of Jarrett’s backup? “Unfortunately, this the car that came from about 15th to 20th at Texas and won the race. It’s the same car two weeks after that won Darlington. And let’s see, at Atlanta we were third or fourth racing up there with all them Chevrolets,” said Parrott, Jarrett’s crew chief. “The 600 car we had was really good. It was a twin to this car right here and it was brand new,” Parrott said. “When I left the shop this morning there was a roll cage going on another one just like the one we wrecked and just like this one.” The team brought the car Jarrett ran in last weekend’s Winston all-star race to the track Friday to use as another backup.(That’s Racin’)(5-26-2001)
