Mike Wallace and the Biagi Brothers BGN car will be promoting more than consumer products this weekend during the Carquest Auto Parts 300 at the 1.5-mile Lowe.s Motor Speedway. Wallace’s car will be carrying decals promoting Victory Junction Camp, a camp designed to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. The camp fund-raising effort is being spearheaded by Kyle and Pattie Petty. “We saw this race as an opportunity to help a really great project,” Wallace said. “We.re hoping carrying the Victory Junction Camp decal on our hood will raise awareness of it from not only a fund-raising standpoint – and we do want to help in that area as much as we can – but also raise awareness among the families who could take advantage of a camp like this.” The Victory Junction Camp was founded by the Pettys in honor of their son, Adam. It will be a place where children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and their families can retreat to rejuvenate their minds, bodies and spirits with no charge to the camper or their families. The camp will be located in Randleman, N.C., and is scheduled to open Summer, 2004. “It was really great of Mike and the Biagi Brothers to offer to do this,” Kyle Petty said. “Mike came over to me last week and said, .Hey, I.ve got some space on our Busch car. Would it help if we carried some Victory Junction ID on it?. The Victory Junction people jumped at the chance, and we.re all really appreciative.” Saturday’s race will be the second of seven Wallace has scheduled in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series this year.
