Bruised Ribs for Jarrett UPDATE nope broken: X-rays taken Tuesday showed that Dale Jarrett does not have a broken rib, according to a team spokesperson. Instead, the NASCAR Winston Cup points leader has bruised ribs. His injury is diagnosed as serratus anterior muscle tear. The type of injury Jarrett has normally takes three to four weeks to heal. The planned treatment is for localized nerve blocks to prevent Jarrett from experiencing the pain when he’s driving. Jarrett was diagnosed with a fractured rib after practice for the Coca-Cola 600 just more than a week ago. This week, his team said the rib was not broken.
