Stewart Honored:

Stewart Honored: Tony Stewart’s work to raise money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp for children has resulted in him being named the second-quarter winner of the National Motorsports Press Association/Pocono Spirit Award. Stewart raised at least $240,000 for the camp being founded by Kyle Petty and his family by completing all 600 laps of the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 this May. Stewart, The Home Depot, Joe Gibbs Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing all make contributions toward that total. The NMPA/Pocono Spirit Award recognizes character and achievement in the face of adversity, sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports. Kevin Harvick was the winner in the first quarter. The winners in each of the four quarters of 2001 will be eligible for the annual award to be presented in January(That’s Racin’)(8-1-2001) (7-31-2001)
