#26 to help Schools: Kmart Corporation announced that NASCAR star Jimmy Spencer will be revving up his #26 Kmart Ford Taurus this weekend in support of Kmart’s new multi-million dollar school fundraising effort. The company is teaming up with Spencer to promote Kmart’s School Spirit program, designed to help fund K-12 schools nationwide. Spencer will carry a special paint scheme this weekend at the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway to promote the program. Jimmy Spencer will lead the School Spirit program into Bristol to support Kmart’s dedication to helping fund K-12 schools nationwide. As part of the effort, Spencer’s #26 Kmart Ford Taurus will feature a special School Spirit paint scheme, adding a large School Spirit decal along each side and the phrase “$10,000,000 for schools!” to the traditional white and blue scheme. Through the School Spirit program, Kmart will donate a minimum of $10 million to schools throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam in the 2001-2002 school year.
