Penalties:NASCAR officials announced today they have penalized four NASCAR Busch Series drivers for actions during and immediately following the South Carolina 200 at Darlington, S.C. on September 1. Drivers Kevin Harvick, Scott Wimmer, Chad Little, and Rich Bickle were all penalized for violating Section 12-4-A of the 2001 NASCAR Busch Series rule book: “actions detrimental to stock car racing or to NASCAR.” The following penalties have been issued:
Kevin Harvick: Fined $10,000 and placed on probation until December 31, 2001, for being “involved in an altercation in another competitors garage area.”
Chad Little: Fined $5,000 and placed on probation until December 31, 2001, for being “involved in an altercation with another competitor.”
Rich Bickle: Fined $5,000 and placed on probation until December 31, 2001, for “intentionally hitting another competitor’s car during a caution.”
Scott Wimmer: Fined $2,500 for “reckless driving after the conclusion of the race.”(NASCAR PR)(9-4-2001)
