Dallenbach Decision soon UPDATE: Wally Dallenbach Jr., who will decide this week whether to continue his television career or go back racing, is certain about one job for the 2002 season: He will compete in next year’s 2002 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Dallenbach most likely will team up with fellow Daytona Beach resident Mike Skinner in a Robinson Racing Mark III for the twice-around-the-clock sportscar marathon. Dallenbach told NBC/TNT officials that he needs to have their final 2002 offer on the table this week or he’ll have to throw his hat back into the Winston Cup garage. Dallenbach is somewhat of a hot commodity in Winston Cup. “I think we’re starting to see teams needing experienced drivers,” he said. “They’re beginning to realize the answer isn’t to hire a driver who’s 20 years old.” Dallenbach has two offers from two solid teams, but he must move quickly to seize an opportunity(Daytona Beach News Journal), supposedly those offers are from Ganassi Racing(Target car?) and Hendrick Motorsports(#25)(9-6-2001) UPDATE: Wally Dallenbach, currently TV analyst for NBC and TNT, and Winston Cup driver Mike Skinner are expected to test a prototype sports car Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway. The pair plan to drive with team owners George Robinson and Jack Baldwin in the 2002 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, scheduled Feb. 2-3. (That’s Racin’)(9-9-2001)
