Kirby to attempt Lowes: Stuart Kirby, the 20-year-old ARCA driver from Bowling Green, KY was fourth fastest on the unofficial watches at Lowes Motor Speedway testing Tuesday and Wednesday. Making his first laps in a Winston Cup car, Kirby showed the poise of a veteran as he was clocked at just over 179 mph in the #75 Ford owned by former ARCA competitor Bob Schacht. The car Kirby tested was recently purchased from PPI Motorsports and still sported a portion of the Tide paint scheme. Team members said it was the car Ricky Craven drove earlier this season at Michigan Speedway. Kirby is looking to make his NASCAR Winston Cup debut in the UAW-GM Quality 500(LMS Site)(9-21-2001)
