Lowe’s Helps Out: Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) driver Robby Gordon are “Racing For Relief” this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway to raise funds for the families of the firefighters killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. As part of its “Power of Pride” campaign, Lowe’s will donate to the New York Firefighters’ 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund $100 for every lap Gordon completes and $1,000 for every lap he leads in Sunday’s UAW-GM Quality 500. In conjunction with the donation-per-lap campaign, the #31 Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse Chevrolet will carry special decals including the American Flag and a N.Y. Firefighters’ decal on the #31 Chevrolet.(RCR Racing), the #48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy and driver Jimmie Johnson will also run Lowes [his sponsor for 2 more races in 2001 and full-time in 2002] colors and do the same “Power of Pride” campaign(10-4-2001)
