Ganassi Racing on the pole at Indy: Chip Ganassi Racing kicked off a busy two weeks of racing with Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver, Bruno Junqueira, winning the pole for the Indianapolis 500. Chip Ganassi has three cars entered in the Indianpolis 500 and two cars entered in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. While Junqueira, Kenny Brack and Jeff Ward work towards an Indy 500 win; #40-Sterling Marlin and #41-Jimmy Spencer will compete in The Winston Open/The Winston and the Coca-Cola 600. Junqueira was the first driver to make a qualifying attempt and his speed of 231.342 mph held up for almost 7 hours. This is the second straight pole position for the 25-year old Brazilian, who won the pole at the last CART event in Motegi, Japan. The pole for Junqueira is worth $1,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Target House. So far this year, Target Chip Ganassi Racing has donated $8,525 to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Target House. Fellow Team Target pilot Jeff Ward qualified 15th with a speed of 228.577 mph, and Kenny Brack qualified his No.22 Target car in the 21st position with a 4-lap average of 227.240 mph.(Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates PR)(5-15-2002)
